On June 4, 2025, a significant incident occurred aboard a flight from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to San Sebastián, where a one-month-old baby suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after takeoff.

Fátima, an auxiliary nurse working in a residential care facility, stepped forward to assist when no medical professionals were available among the passengers.

Despite having never performed resuscitation maneuvers in such a situation before, she managed to revive the infant.

Fátima recounted the alarming moments during the incident, stating that she began her attempts to resuscitate the baby quickly.

She vividly remembers a critical moment when the baby’s heart began to beat on its own, leaving her overwhelmed with emotion and relief.

Following her efforts, the flight crew inquired whether an emergency landing was necessary.

After careful consideration, Fátima concluded that if the baby were her own child, she would insist on landing.

The aircraft proceeded to make an emergency landing at Jerez de la Frontera Airport in Cádiz.

Upon landing, medical personnel promptly attended to the baby, who was reported to be out of danger.

Upon returning to the flight, Fátima received a warm round of applause from fellow passengers and appeared visibly moved while processing the intensity of the experience.

Additionally, she took the opportunity to request the family of the rescued infant to reach out to her.

In recognition of her courageous actions, the airline has awarded her a free ticket to Gran Canaria.
