The European Parliament has implemented a ban on representatives of the Chinese technology company Huawei from entering its premises, citing precautionary measures amidst ongoing investigations.

This decision was made public on March 14, 2025, and is effective immediately, though it remains unclear when the suspension will be lifted.

This prohibition follows recent actions by the Belgian federal police, which conducted raids on Huawei's Brussels headquarters and the homes of multiple lobbyists suspected of involvement in bribery, forgery, money laundering, and organized crime connected to members of the European Parliament.

Investigative reports from Belgian media have indicated that a total of 21 locations were searched across Brussels, Wallonia, Flanders, and Portugal.

There are allegations involving approximately 15 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), some of whom are current officials while others are retired.

Reports reveal that a judge investigating the case ordered the sealing of the offices belonging to two parliamentary assistants due to their alleged involvement.

Additionally, a suspect was apprehended in France following the issuance of a European arrest warrant.

Prosecutors believe that the offenses occurred from 2021 to the present and were disguised as commercial lobbying.

Various forms of inducements are alleged to have been used, including excessive gifts such as expensive meals, travel expenses, and regular invitations to football matches.

Investigators suspect that Huawei lobbyists may have attempted to influence around 15 MEPs with offerings ranging from luxury gifts and trips to China to cash payments, all aimed at securing favorable advocacy for the company within the European Parliament.

Belgian authorities have reportedly been monitoring Huawei lobbyists for over two years.
