The deal, valued at approximately $200 billion, was signed during President Trump's visit to Doha.
Qatar Airways has entered into a significant agreement with Boeing to purchase 160 aircraft, valued at around $200 billion.
This deal, which is noted for both its size and financial magnitude, was finalized during U.S. President
Donald Trump's visit to Doha.
The agreement was signed at the Amiri Diwan, the official government palace in Doha, by Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohamed al Meer, in the presence of President Trump and Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Thani.
President Trump characterized the deal as a 'historic purchase,' emphasizing the substantial number of aircraft involved and the overall value of the contract, which exceeds $200 billion.
The announcement coincided with a defense collaboration agreement between the two countries, further enhancing bilateral ties.
In addition to the aircraft purchase, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and the Qatari defense minister, Saud bin Abdulrahman al Thani, signed an agreement focusing on defense cooperation.
Both leaders also issued a joint declaration, aimed at strengthening the partnership between Qatar and the United States.
Emir al Thani remarked that the signing of these agreements represents a new level in the relationship between Qatar and the U.S. During the visit, President Trump was accompanied by several key officials including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
The discussions included topics such as Iran, with President Trump expressing confidence that a nuclear agreement could be successfully established, contingent on ensuring that Tehran does not develop nuclear weapons.
Although President Trump did not confirm details regarding an offer from Qatar to use a luxury Boeing 747-8 as Air Force One, it remains a notable point of interest.
Following the signing, President Trump is scheduled to visit Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East, where a demonstration of aircraft is anticipated.
