In February 2025, Spain's labor market showed notable improvement, with the creation of 100,340 new jobs, marking the second-largest increase for February since 2007, surpassed only by 2024 figures.

The transport and storage sector led the job increase, reporting a growth of 7.14%.

Other sectors showing significant employment gains included agriculture (5.45%), arts and entertainment (4.65%), and real estate activities (3.90%).

In the salaried regime, the education sector experienced the largest rise, adding 31,118 contributors, an increase of 2.44% from the previous month, followed by hospitality, which saw an increase of 27,076 workers (1.98%).

Conversely, health and social services faced a decrease of 7,761 jobs (-0.41%).

The average affiliation of foreign workers also saw an increase in February, growing by 31,369 contributors (1.1%) to 2,874,398.

Unemployment figures showed a reduction of 0.23% in February, resulting in 2,593,449 registered unemployed individuals, the lowest figure recorded in February since 2008. Compared to February 2024, this reflects a drop of 166,959 people, or over 6.05%.

The decline in unemployment was particularly noted in the services sector (5,764 fewer individuals), construction (3,409), and industry (2,214), while agriculture saw a slight increase of 210 individuals.

However, increases were recorded in the remaining eight communities, most notably in Madrid (4,172 more unemployed) and Canary Islands (1,328 more).
