A $96 billion agreement for 210 aircraft marks a significant economic collaboration as further agreements total $1.2 trillion.
On May 14, 2025, U.S. President
Donald Trump announced a landmark agreement for the sale of 210 Boeing aircraft to Qatar Airways during his Middle East tour.
The signing ceremony took place in Doha, with the attendance of Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The aircraft deal, valued at approximately $96 billion, involves the procurement of Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777X, equipped with engines from GE Aerospace, as confirmed by a statement from the White House.
The agreement represents the largest order for Boeing’s wide-body aircraft and the most significant order for the 787 model.
The White House anticipates that this deal will create 154,000 jobs annually in the United States, contributing to over a million jobs throughout the contract's production and execution phases.
During this visit, the leaders also formalized several additional agreements that are projected to result in economic exchanges valued at no less than $1.2 trillion.
These include agreements related to defense and energy, reflecting a deepening partnership between the two nations.
Trump’s visit marks the first by a sitting U.S. president to Qatar in 23 years.
Among the agreements reached, a memorandum of understanding could lead to investments of $38 billion in the Al Udeid airbase and other capabilities related to air defense and maritime security.
The White House noted that these arrangements emphasize Trump’s commitment to accelerate Qatar’s defense investments, enhancing regional deterrence and benefiting the U.S. industrial base.
In addition, U.S. defense firms Raytheon and RTX secured a $1 billion agreement for drone technology sales to Qatar, while General Atomics acquired a $2 billion contract for the sale of MQ-9B drones.
This engagement with Qatar followed Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, where he signed a $142 billion defense agreement, reported to be the largest in the country’s history.
During a joint appearance in Doha, Sheikh Tamim described Trump as a 'man of peace' and expressed hopes for his tenure to contribute to stability in the region.
Trump acknowledged the Emir's sentiments, expressing optimism about achieving peace, specifically noting regional tensions involving Russia and Ukraine.
He reiterated his appreciation for Qatar's longstanding friendship with the United States.
Qatar plays a key role as a mediator, alongside the United States and Egypt, seeking to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
