The lifeless body of Alex Wang, an 18-year-old of Chinese origin who disappeared on Sunday, has been discovered in the River Deza near Ponte Taboada, Silleda, Pontevedra.

The confirmation came from 112 Galicia, following an intensive search effort that began after Wang was last seen saying goodbye to friends via social media.

The search operation, coordinated by the Guardia Civil, resumed early Tuesday morning.

The focused efforts in and around the river were based on the last known location of Wang’s mobile phone.

Crucially, the search involved divers from the armed institute, who ultimately recovered the body.

Additionally, the operation was bolstered by the deployment of drone units from the Axencia Galega de Emerxencias, as well as personnel from the GES of Lalín and Civil Protection of Vila de Cruces, among numerous volunteers.

The diverse and extensive effort highlights the community and institutional response to the disappearance of the young man.

A guardia civil officer was instrumental in Monday’s search, activating a drone to aid in the thorough sweep of the area.

This unforeseen tragedy mobilized various emergency units, each contributing to the search with specialized resources, including the use of advanced technology such as drones, to comb the difficult terrain.

Meanwhile, members of the NGO specialized in intervention and emergency aid are currently engaged in recovering Wang's body.

Professionals from the College of Psychology of Galicia's intervention group also traveled to the site to provide psychological support to Wang’s family and friends, underscoring the importance of mental wellness in times of acute crisis.

The discovery of Wang’s body marks a sorrowful conclusion to the intensive search and highlights the complex logistical coordination involved in such rescue operations.

Local authorities continue to support the family, ensuring that they receive appropriate care during this devastating time.
