Pablo Iglesias, the former Vice President of Spain and leader of Podemos, shared insights into his political journey and recent developments in Spanish politics during an interview with the independentist newspaper _Ara_.

In this interview, Iglesias disclosed that members of the coalition party Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) privately requested Podemos to oppose the transfer of immigration competencies to the Generalitat of Catalonia, claiming that the party Junts aims to exploit these powers negatively.

Iglesias has expressed strong opposition to the planned transfer, characterizing the agreement between the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and Junts as having xenophobic overtones.

He noted that Ione Belarra, the current leader of Podemos, has already announced the party's intention to vote against this legislative change in Congress.

In discussing his own political future, Iglesias indicated that he does not intend to return to active politics.

He cited the well-being of his children as a primary reason, stating that he believes he can better protect his family outside of public office.

Actualmente, he leads Canal Red, a YouTube channel, and feels satisfied with his current professional pursuits, emphasizing that he did not find happiness while in political office.

Throughout the interview, Iglesias reflected on his relationships with other political figures, particularly criticizing Yolanda Díaz, the current Vice President and Minister of Labor.

He dismissed the possibility of aligning with Sumar, an electoral coalition led by Díaz, referring to it as a failed project.

Iglesias indicated that Díaz should reconsider her candidacy for future elections, suggesting that her political ambitions may not align with her capabilities.

Moreover, Iglesias revealed that he had not communicated with the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, for approximately four to five months.

He recounted an alarming incident involving the hacking of María Jesús Montero's phone, the Minister of Finance, which he described as a serious concern after receiving a call from what he thought was her number, only to find it was children on the other end.

Iglesias also mentioned discussions around potential electoral agreements with other leftist parties, although he firmly ruled out any collaboration with Sumar.

He argued that a coalition facing significant challenges from smaller regional parties might not be strategically beneficial.
