To enhance its fight against counterfeiting and safeguard consumers, the American technology giant collaborates with thousands of brands worldwide, including well-known names such as Lego, Prada, and Cartier.

In 2023, Amazon launched the Transparency program, designed to ensure product authenticity.

This initiative successfully verified over 2.5 billion units of various products and engaged more than 88,000 brands globally, encompassing Fortune 500 companies, global brands, startups, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Amazon claims its ongoing efforts to create a 'safe and trustworthy' shopping environment include Project Zero, which combines automated protections with artificial intelligence to proactively block infringements.

This project has benefited over 35,000 brands.

With advancements in AI, Amazon has improved its proactive controls, which can block over 99% of suspicious listings before brands can detect and report them.

Despite the increasing number of products available for sale on the platform, infringement notifications from brands have decreased by 35% over the past five years.

According to Gerard Guiu, general director of the Spanish Association for the Defense of the Brand (Andema), 'The distribution and sale of counterfeits is a crime controlled by organized crime, which, according to the OECD, accounts for 2.5% of global trade.

Protecting intellectual property and brands also secures the economy, jobs, and, of course, defends all consumers.'
