Pedro Sánchez to Engage in High-Profile Meetings at Davos 2025

Pedro Sánchez to Engage in High-Profile Meetings at Davos 2025

Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez schedules discussions with global CEOs and political leaders at the World Economic Forum.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is set to participate in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) taking place in Davos, Switzerland.

During the forum, Sánchez will conduct bilateral meetings with key industry leaders and political figures.

Among those scheduled for discussions are CEOs from major corporations such as Mubadala, ArcelorMittal, Vestas, Volkswagen, and Cisco.

Sánchez will also meet with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and hold talks with Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenski, as well as Panama's President, José Raúl Mulino.

In addition to these bilateral meetings, Sánchez will have informal discussions with CEOs from Spanish companies attending the event.

He is also expected to participate in various official events and roundtable discussions arranged by the WEF, focusing on topics such as Spain's economic growth model, multilateralism, and global challenges like misinformation and the weakening of democratic institutions.

This marks the sixth appearance of Prime Minister Sánchez at the annual Davos forum since becoming Spain's head of government in 2018, having been present at every in-person event since then.

His visit to Davos is scheduled for January 21, 2025, where he will engage in preliminary bilateral meetings before attending the official opening dinner hosted by Klaus Schwab, WEF's President and Founder.

The following day, January 22, will see a packed agenda for Sánchez, starting with interviews with international media.

He will take part in a roundtable on global health and prosperity through prevention, deliver a speech at the plenary session, and participate in a session about climate and the environment.

Additionally, Sánchez will contribute to a 'country strategic dialogue' in a private meeting with international and Spanish business leaders.

This dialogue will explore Spain's economic growth strategy, which emphasizes equity, sustainability, and inclusion.

While specific attendees from Spanish companies remain to be confirmed, all CEOs attending the forum have been invited to the informal meeting.

Notably, Marc Murtra, the newly appointed President of Telefónica, will not be present following a recent transition in leadership within the telecommunications company.

Beyond economic discussions, Sánchez intends to reiterate Spain's support to President Zelenski amidst ongoing tensions with Russia.

This interaction comes shortly after Donald Trump assumes office as the new President of the United States.

Alongside Sánchez, a delegation of Spanish officials, including Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition Sara Aagesen, Minister of Economy Carlos Cuerpo, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, and Minister for Digital Transformation Óscar López, will participate in the forum.
