PSPV Requests Disciplinary Action Against Advisor Over Expulsion of LGTBI Entities in Corts Valencianes

PSPV Requests Disciplinary Action Against Advisor Over Expulsion of LGTBI Entities in Corts Valencianes

The Valencia region's Socialist Party seeks clarification on the authority of legislative security personnel following an incident involving LGTBI associations.
The PSPV-PSOE, the Socialist Party of Valencia, has formally requested the Corts Valencianes—a regional parliamentary body—to initiate disciplinary proceedings against an advisor in the presidency.

This request follows the advisor's involvement in the expulsion of LGTBI+ associations from the plenary session held on May 15. The party alleges that the advisor exceeded his functions during the incident.

José Muñoz, the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson in the Corts, presented a written report to the parliamentary assembly today, calling for the legislative security service to produce a report clarifying whether the presidency's temporary staff is permitted to act as security personnel.

During the session, the president of the Corts Valencianes, Llanos Massó, who is affiliated with the Vox party, ordered the expulsion of the LGTBI+ representatives after they protested against amendments to the trans law introduced by the PP (Partido Popular) and Vox.

In response to these events, the administration of the Corts indicated that they were unaware of the request made by the PSPV earlier today.

They reiterated that the president was the only individual who requested the removal of the attendees due to a violation of parliamentary regulations.

Following the incident, Muñoz characterized the expulsion as part of a broader pattern of ultraright influence within the Corts, claiming that it undermines public discourse and misuses parliamentary rules.

He emphasized that the recent developments are severe and warrant accountability.

Muñoz further remarked that the expulsion represents an unprecedented attack on a community that has long fought for equality in the Valencian Community.

He criticized the current administration for allegedly silencing the voices of citizens while infringing upon their rights.

He concluded that the actions taken against individuals advocating for their rights reflect undemocratic behavior and reiterated that advisors in the presidential cabinet should focus on technical and administrative support rather than undertaking security functions.
